Car manufacturer General Motors (GM) has awarded its logistics service provider DSV a prize. GM praised the outstanding performance and exemplary cooperation with a ”Supplier of the Year Award 2010”.
DSV was one of the selected suppliers and service providers to whom General Motors awarded a prize at a celebration in the GM Renaissance Center in Detroit.
Reliable engine for production
DSV Air & Sea transports parts for General Motors from Europe, Africa, and the Near East to the production locations and spare parts centers in Europe (Germany, Austria, UK and Hungary) as well as locations in North America, Asia, and Australia.
Integrated supplier management
The services for GM cover the whole chain of order management, supplier management, and of course the physical delivery process from Europe to overseas. In order to be able to depict all of the sub-processes as transparently as possible, DSV has developed a customized software solution for GM.
Control tower in Bremen
The delivery chain is managed from DSV Air & Sea’s GM Control Tower in Bremen, Germany. The extensive automotive transport demand has brought DSV Air & Sea to align its processes to bring its services to a next level. “With the support from our sister division DSV Road we delivered first class services from one source all across Europe,” explains Tobias Schmidt, Managing Director DSV Air & Sea GmbH. “With our automated processes and interfaces across all parties we have managed to perform a fully integrated and sustainable event management along the very sensitive GM supply chain around the globe”.
An important recognition
“It’s a great honor and distinction to receive this award. We are delighted about the value they place on our work,” says Jens Bjorn Andersen, CEO DSV A/S, Brondby (Denmark), and adds: “The prize is the reward for supporting one of the world’s largest companies with high-quality and competitive logistic services”.
